Another RVing friend Paulette joined Tina and me at Cherry Hill campground in Washington, DC. We toured the nearby Great Falls of the Potomac National Park.
That trail led to an area above the falls, so we had to turn back the other way to get to the falls overlooks.
It was a hot day for walking.
There are 3 main overlooks with various views and accessibility.
The first one gives you a close-up partial view of the upper portion of the falls.

About the canal:
High water marks for several floods.
Another viewpoint from farther down the river.
Best wide-angle view of the falls.
Paulette resting and hydrating in the shade. Did I mention it was hot?
The trail winds through a boulder field.
Watching extreme kayakers trying to paddle up to the base of the falls.
Can you find the kayaker?
that takes a lot of strength to kayak in that water!
